Travel eSIM and Travel App Referral Codes: How to Use Airalo, Saily, Roamless, Trip.com and KKday New-User Offers
By Perk editor· Last verified: 3 October 2026 (HKT)· About 7 minutes
Before you buy a travel eSIM: what the Airalo, Saily, Roamless and GigSky referral codes give new users, when to enter each code, which eSIMs have free trial data, plus Trip.com and KKday new-member offers — all with official sources.
Before you buy a travel eSIM
An eSIM is a digital SIM built into your phone: buy a data plan in the app, scan a QR code or tap install, and you are connected — no queue for a physical SIM at the airport. Check three things first: your phone supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked; you need data (most travel eSIMs have no local phone number); and install it over Wi-Fi in Hong Kong before you leave, then switch on roaming when you land.
A referral code is usually worth a few US dollars, so do not pick an eSIM with the wrong coverage or price just for the discount. Compare data, days and price for your destination first, then use the referral code to save a little more.

One by one: where the code goes and the small print
Airalo: Airalo's referral programme explainer says a friend using a referral code gets US$3 off their first Airalo eSIM purchase, and the code can be entered at sign-up or at checkout.
Saily: the referral terms require the referred user to be new to Saily and to enter the code at checkout on their first purchase. On a USD account that is US$5 off a standard plan or US$10 off an Ultra plan (€4/€8 on EUR accounts, £4/£8 on GBP), and the plan must cost at least US$5.60.
Roamless: the help centre says to enter the invite code in the app, then buy at least US$5 of pay-as-you-go credit or a data plan; both of you get US$5 Roamless credit. A referral bonus and a promo code cannot be used on the same order — if your first order used a promo code, another purchase of US$5 or more within 30 days of signing up still earns the referral reward.
GigSky: GigSky's help article says the referral code must be entered when you create the account and cannot be added afterwards; once your email is verified, your first data plan is 25% off. Kolet: Kolet's help article gives US$3 off when you enter the code at checkout, but the code does not work if you already claimed Kolet's free 1GB gift or bought before.
Try first: eSIMs with free data
- Eskimo: Eskimo's blog says each referral gives you and your friend 500MB of global data; enter the code in the referral field when you sign up, no credit card needed. Current offer: Free 500MB.
- USIMS: the USIMS FAQ lists a free 1GB data trial in the USA and Europe for new users; download through the invite link, no code to type. Current offer: Free 1GB (USA & Europe).
- Red Bull MOBILE Data: the App Store listing says the first 100MB of data is free; enter the referral code in the app. Current offer: Free 100MB.
- Free data allowances are small — enough for maps, a ride and a message home in your first hours. For a longer trip you will still need a proper plan.

Common pitfalls
- Who counts as new: every offer is for new users or a first purchase only. If you have signed up before with the same email, phone number or Apple/Google account, do not expect the discount.
- Code timing: miss GigSky's code at account creation and it is gone; claim Kolet's free 1GB and the referral code no longer works. Decide which code to use before you sign up.
- One offer per order: Roamless's referral bonus cannot be combined with a promo code, and other eSIMs generally allow one code per order.
- Charged in US$ or €: paying with a HK$ credit card may add a foreign-currency fee, so work out what you actually save.
- No phone number: most travel eSIMs are data-only, so keep your usual SIM active for Hong Kong bank SMS codes.
- Locked or unsupported phones: check in your phone settings that you can add an eSIM before you buy; a deleted eSIM cannot always be reinstalled.

FAQ
- When do I enter a travel eSIM referral code?
- It depends on the brand: GigSky's must go in when you create the account and cannot be added later; Airalo accepts it at sign-up or checkout; Saily and Kolet at your first checkout; Roamless wants it in the app before you buy US$5 or more.
- Which eSIMs have free trial data?
- Eskimo gives you and your friend 500MB each when you sign up with a referral code; USIMS gives new users a free 1GB trial for the USA and Europe; Red Bull MOBILE Data's first 100MB is free. The official app shows the current amount and conditions.
- Are the referral discounts in HK$?
- No. Most eSIMs price in US dollars (Firsty in euros). Paying with a HK$ card converts at your card issuer's rate and may add a foreign-currency fee.
- How do I get the Trip.com and KKday new-member offers?
- New Trip.com users who register through an invite link get a HK$80 hotel discount; new KKday members who register through the invite page get a HK$27 discount code saved to their account automatically.
- When do these referral codes end?
- None of these programmes publishes an end date, and terms can change at any time. We check them monthly; the last-checked date is at the top of the article.
