How to get into airport lounges without a credit card: Smart Traveller's free membership welcome perks and member discounts, converting HeyMax Max Miles to ST Points, and Priority Pass membership prices, with official sources.
What are the options without a credit card?
Many Hong Kong travellers get lounge visits through Priority Pass or Plaza Premium entries bundled with a credit card. If you don't hold one of those cards, or don't want to apply for a card just for lounges, there are other routes: pay per visit, use a membership programme for discounts and vouchers, or buy a membership yourself.
Which one makes sense depends on how often you fly, who you travel with and whether your usual airports have the relevant lounges. Start with the overview below, then read the details for each route.
Routes at a glance
| Route | What it costs you | What you get | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pay per visit at Plaza Premium Lounge | Pay per entry; the price appears on the official site once you pick a date and lounge | A single visit | Prices vary by airport and time; Smart Traveller members get 20% off |
| Smart Traveller (free membership) | Free to join; email verification required | Welcome: 150 ST Points + lounge vouchers; 20% off Plaza Premium Lounge and 10% off Plaza Premium First | Welcome offer sign-up window ends 31 December 2026; 150 points may not cover a visit |
| HeyMax → Smart Traveller points | Earn Max Miles by shopping with HeyMax partners | Welcome: 200 Max Miles; Max Miles convert 1:1 to ST Points | Minimum 1,000 Max Miles per conversion and a Smart Traveller membership in your own name |
| Priority Pass membership | US$99 / US$329 / US$469 a year | Partner lounges worldwide; Standard Plus includes 10 visits, Prestige makes member visits free | Standard charges US$35 per visit; guests are US$35 each |
Welcome rewards and end dates come from our offer records. Priority Pass prices were checked on the official site on 3 October 2026 (the site may show prices by country of residence, so go by what you see). Plaza Premium's pay-per-visit prices only appear after you pick a date, so we don't list them here.
Smart Traveller: a free membership whose vouchers and discounts are the practical part
According to Plaza Premium Lounge's official offer page, registering for Smart Traveller on or before 31 December 2026 gets you 150 welcome points straight away, plus e-vouchers: an extra hour at Plaza Premium Lounge, 50% off companion access (walk-in only) and free entry for children aged 11 or under. You view and use the vouchers in the Smart Traveller app.
Members get 20% off Plaza Premium Lounge and 10% off Plaza Premium First, plus member discounts at Aerotel airport hotels, airport dining and more. Points can be redeemed for lounge access and other items; the app shows how many points you need. The 150 welcome points on their own may not cover a visit.

HeyMax: build up Max Miles, then convert them to ST Points
HeyMax is a Singapore-founded miles platform where you earn Max Miles by shopping with partner merchants. According to Plaza Premium Group's announcement, members in Hong Kong and Singapore can convert Max Miles to Smart Traveller points at 1:1, starting from 1,000 Max Miles.
HeyMax's transfer guide also states a minimum of 1,000 Max Miles per conversion, a verified HeyMax account and an active Smart Traveller membership in your own name. Signing up with a referral code and completing your first qualifying purchase earns 200 Max Miles, but those 200 alone aren't enough to convert, so you'll need to keep earning.

Priority Pass: worth buying only if you fly often
The Priority Pass website lists three annual plans. Standard costs US$99 with US$35 per member visit. Standard Plus costs US$329 and includes 10 free visits, then US$35 a visit. Prestige costs US$469 and all member visits are free. On every plan, guests cost US$35 each.
As a rough guide, if you fly only once or twice a year, the Standard fee plus visit charges may not beat paying per visit. Standard Plus starts to make sense at around ten trips a year. Before you buy, check that your usual airports have partner lounges.
Common pitfalls
- Vouchers and walk-ins: the Smart Traveller 50% companion discount is a walk-in voucher and may not work for online bookings. Check the terms in the app before you rely on it.
- Email verification: Smart Traveller won't issue points until you verify your email, so do it right after registering.
- Not enough points: neither 150 welcome points nor 200 Max Miles is enough for a visit on its own. Keep earning, or use them alongside member discounts.
- US dollar fees: Priority Pass charges in US dollars, so paying with a Hong Kong dollar card may add a foreign-currency fee.
- Lounge location: arrival, transit and departure lounges are in different areas. Before you pay, confirm the lounge is in the airside zone you'll pass through.
